One Summer day a few years ago my friend Patrick and I decided to hang
out at his house. He came and picked me up from my house because I did
not have my driver's license yet. We went back to his house and were
trying to figure out what to do. We were sitting there on his couch just
talking, when Pat says,"Hey I wonder what Mitch is doing." We both
laughed because he knew he had been grounded by his parents. We called
him just to see what he was up to, and that is when the trouble started.
We were trying to get Mitch to sneak out and it did not take much
persuading to get him to join us. We drove over to his house, and picked
him up outside his house after he sneaked outside. We asked him how he
was going to get away with it, and he said "My parents never come check
on me in the morning before they go to work." It was dark by this time,
and we decided to go down to Columbus.
After messing around in Columbus, we stayed at my house for the night.
We were all having fun, and really kind of forgot what Mitch did till
the next morning. Around eight or nine the next morning we hear a car
coming down my driveway. It was Mitch's dad, and we did not know what to
do. I said, "Just go answer the door and get it over with" to Mitch,
but he said no way, so we just sat there and waited for him to leave.
His dad had been calling him, so Mitch just told him that he went to the
YMCA with some other friends. So come to find out his dad drove there
and was waiting outside the YMCA until Mitch finally told him the truth.
His dad came back to my house, and was not in the happiest moods. He
got into quite a bit of trouble, and Pat and I got a lecture about it.
It turns out Mitch's parents do check on him even if he did not realize
it at the time.
