  1. I had heard about Johns Hopkins before, but mostly just to do with the University and hospital. You gave lots of information to show why he left the money to start the school and hospital as well which I thought was very interesting. Your presentation was very detailed and I really enjoyed it.

  3. I thought that this presentation was done really well, especially because there isn't much early information on Johns. You also gave a lot of good info on Hospital and Universities that were named after himself. Good job!

  4. I really enjoyed this presentation. I never knew about all of Johns Hopkins accomplishments, especially that he died before these institutions were developed. I found the stories and facts really interesting and catching. And the comparison to Dr. Ben Carson was good.

  5. I really enjoyed your presentation. I learned alot about who he was. I found it very interesting that his hospital basically invented CPR. I am very glad that they did.

  6. My cousin actually works at Johns Hopkins Hospital and before you presentation I never really knew about the back ground of him and who he was. You presentation was very informative and you guys did a great job of breaking it down and explaining everything about him and his accomplishments. Good Job guys!

  7. You guys did a really good job with the little bit of information that you had at your disposal. I think you did a great job of relaying his importance and the influence he has had on modern medicine because of his generosity and ideology.

  8. Considering the lack of background information on Johns Hopkins, you guys did very well. I knew about the Johns Hopkins school of medicine but had no idea who was behind it. Very informative. Great Job.

  9. I only knew that Johns Hopkins medical center was extremely difficult to get into, student, patient, or otherwise. The story behind the hospital is really inspiring and it's cool to know just why people want to be there. The movie 'Something the Lord Made,' gives a bit of a Hollywood side to that first Blue Baby operation as well which is neat. Your information on the comparison was well informed as well and very thought provoking.

  10. I found it interesting hearing that he was a very wealthy man but everything he left it too was so amazing to me. He has to be good-hearted to do something like that. I always find it weird when I hear history of people being attracted to their family members though so that took me off guard. And also thinking now to how clean we are in surgery's it is crazy this was the first place to use gloves.

  11. This must have been hard to do since he didn't like to wright down his early life but it was still interesting that he never was married. Also it is amazing what all happened with the money that he left when he died. All the donation that happen really did help change the way hospitals work.

  12. I found it surprising that Johns left his fortune to his first cousin, whom he loved but could not marry because of his religion. My favorite part, though, was his orphanage. He cared so much for those young African American children who had almost nothing and he gave them a home with love and compassion. He seemed like a very generous guy, and that he was simply out there to help people and make their lives better.

  13. Had no idea who this person was or how he influenced the American dream with his actions. It was impressive to see the amount of work he put into helping people with the money gained from his railroad company. The idea that he created a school and hospital that still retain their value as one of the most important places for the study of medical science is astounding. You did a good job showing how he influenced the world and how much impact and individual can have.

  14. I never really knew who Johns Hopkins was! It was amazing to hear how much money he had when he died and it was great that you guys compared the money back then to today's money. It gave us a better idea of how much he really had! I can't believe he was that successful with only having 12 years of education and that none of his schools or hospitals came about until after he died. It takes a lot of dedication and passion for something to put that much effort and money into it even after you're gone. It is such a shame that we don't have more records of his earlier life because it was so long ago. Great Presentation!

  15. I loved learning the back story of Johns Hopkins. I also liked learning about how he had a "love for people." I also thought the orphanage for the children helped us understand how caring and loving Hopkins really was. I think that this presentation was done well and I learned a lot from it.

  16. I never really knew much about Johns before this presentation. I thought it was interesting that the Johns Hopkins hospital is his basically. Also, that there have been a lot of first done there is interesting as well. It is crazy that 10,000 applications are turned in there in a month ! that's unbelievable. I thought you guys both knew the information well and you did a very good job.

  17. I really didn’t have a clue who Johns Hopkins was before this presentation except I knew there was a hospital named after him. I think it’s unbelievable that he really didn’t have much of an education after he left school at the age of 12. And being able to run a store on his own at 17 years old is pretty impressive. You guys did a really good job showing us how caring he was for other people.

  18. I didn't know who John Hopkins was i knew there was a hospital named John Hopkins but i didn't know his story. It's funny because in the begin of the presentation i seen Quakers and i thought he had something to do with the oatmeal but come to find out he was a lot more important then that. I learned a lot about his work with African American i found that really cool also that they use plastic gloves first and the developed CPR that was amazing. I also like how you guys compared him to Ben Carson I learned a lot about him as well because i have only seen him on MSNBC when he was addressing the President and i thought he wasn't anybody really important and come to find out he was. Great Job!!!
