  2. Excellent presentation!
I can't believe what an unfortunate childhood Pryor had! I also had no idea that he tried to burn himself alive! It was really such a sad life story but it is remarkable that he was able to achieve so much.

  5. I thought it was crazy to see what he went through as a child and then grows up to do such great things. I'm sure his parents were proud of him but could not do anything because they'd already been absent. I like how his teacher helped him get into school and that he truly made people happy, it is one of the best feelings.

  6. I thought you guys did a good job presenting. I actually had never heard of him before today. I really enjoyed the video clips you shared with us. Only thing I would fix would be the layout of your slides. Other than that good job!

  7. I really enjoyed your presesntation adn you guys gave very good background information for us to see why his comedy styke was the way it was. The oinly thing I wish you would have done a little more of was to tell us how important his contributions to comedy were. but overall very entertaining and filled with new information.

  8. I loved the video clips you showed. Two of my favorite movies; Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder are my favorite comedy duo. You guys did a good job showing us his early life so we could understand why he performed the type of comedy he did, and why he turned to drug use later in his life. He led a very unfortunate life, but left behind a great legacy and funny movies for us to enjoy.

  9. Your presentation was very entertaining. His childhood sounds awful and I really had no idea that his life was like that. $200 a day in cocaine? I guess he liked to party. Great job.

  10. I couldn't believe how rough of a childhood he had, and still became such a famous comedian. It really shows that if you want to accomplish something that you still can if you set your mind to it. You guys gave a lot of background information to show us how he came to his style of using his bad childhood in a way he could humor people.

  11. This was an interesting presentation for me because I had never heard of him. He must of have a very hard up-bring but it did help give him some content for his comedy life. The movie videos that you had were good since it showed what his style of comedy was like and what kind of language he used.

  12. I'd only ever seen a couple of Pryor's skits, but found them to be really funny. The fact that he had a 200$ cocaine addiction makes me realize that a good portion of comedians do have issues like this outside of their entertainment. Most use their own experiences and or sadness to enlighten other people in a more positive way which is rather bittersweet. The end of the presentation really brought it together with the American dream and the fact that without comedy or fun entertainment, we'd probably be more of a savage society.

  13. I really liked how you guys didn't put up a lot of information on your slides, instead you guys put key words that stood out about who Richard was. I really like the videos you showed it they were very funny. Overall, you guys did a good job!

  14. Before your presentation I had never heard of Richard Pryor. I thought you guys did a great job informing me on his background and why he is so famous today. I found it interesting how he was able to tranform his horrific events from the past into something comical that made people laugh. Comedy is definitely very big in America and he seemed to contribute to it in a huge way.

  15. Already had a vague idea of who he was and how he used his troubled past as a source of material for his jokes. You did a good job explaining how troubled his life was and just how badly that influenced him and what he did. It seems to be common that entertainers turn to drugs for ideas and a form of relief for all of the stress they accumulate as celebrities.

Your power point was short and sweet with very few words which was great! it showed that you guys really knew what you were talking about. It was great to hear about his childhood and why he became who he was as a comedian. Great Presentation!

  19. I don't think I had ever heard of Richard Pryor before. I liked the background information that was given on him because that was really important and clearly influenced the person he became. Growing up in a home like his must of been horrible and it's understandable that he was always looking for love and affection. Hopefully he found that feeling he needed from doing comedy.
