  1. Good job, I never knew that Billie was a girl nor have I heard her music. I like that you passed out some lyrics and played a song that ment something deeply to her. Great visual and slideshow setup also.

  2. I knew very little about Billie Holiday, I have heard of her and it is not the first time I have listened to her music Strange Fruit in particular. I feel like the presentation did a good job of showing how rough her life was and how fame can pressure people into drugs no matter how hard or easy their lives were before they became famous. I can't think of a way to improve upon this, the presentation was very solid.

  3. I really did think Billie Holiday was a man before this presentation. I learned a lot about who she was, I had heard the name but did not actually know anything about her. I liked how they related Billie to Whitney Houston. I think that was a perfect comparison. Good Job!

  4. Well i learned that Billie holiday was a women i didn't know that and like you said i thought that was a man. I also liked the background that you gave on her it really showed why i could hear the pain in her voice. The compare and contrast was really good it showed how similar the two singers really were. Only thing i could say to try to improve this presentation would have been to put the video at the end but it wasn't really needed great job!

  5. I thought this presentation was good, I learned a lot about Billie Holiday and jazz music. It seemed like you guys really knew what you were talking about. I thought the compare and contrast with Whitney Houston was really good and well done. It seemed like they were extremely similar yet extremely different at the same time.

  6. When I first heard this name I thought it was a male name but after your presentation, I then learned it was a female's name. I really enjoyed your project and like how you handed out some of her song lyrics. Also listening to her music helped show that her singing style was "slow, rough quality."

  7. First of all, I love Billie Holdiay so finding out that is not her name is a shock to me. I thought it was ironic that she was discovered in 1933 when Fred and Ginger (my presentation) were discovered. I also think your comparison to Whitney Houston was a very good one. The video of her singing helped as well to hear the roughness of her voice. The only thing I would fix for next time is the slides, they were slightly boring. That is because there were too many words that took up the page. The slides should have been more for presenting instead of your notes. Other than that you did a very good job!

  8. I always thought when I heard Billie Holliday, people were talking about a guy. It's interesting that most people have had the same experience. It was very good background about how she got into singing, and how you used her song lyrics so we could see how her music was. I thought your comparison and contrast with Whitney Houston was a very good example.

  9. You guys did a really good job of presenting Billie. I had heard of her before, but I had no idea the struggles she went through that made her and her music so soulful. I think it was really powerful to not only hand out one of her songs and play it, but to show us her singing it, so that we could see and understand just how passionate about her music she was. The comparison to Whitney Houston was very well thought out and well made, good job.

  10. I really liked this presentation! good job! I had heard of her before but didn't know any of her music. I liked getting a hand out of the lyrics. That was a good idea of us to be able to read along while she sang it. Very inspirational!
