  1. I learned who Henry Louis Gates Jr. is and his impact upon the world. It was interesting to learn about his upbringing and the way he was influenced by the hardships he had to face form racism to his medical problems. His studies have shown how intellectual he is as do his accomplishments. The only improvement would have been on the video, it seemed a bit out of place in the entirety of the presentation and it may have been better without it.

  2. Before this presentation I don't think I had ever heard of Henry Louis Gates Jr. I had absolutely no clue who he was nor what he did. I liked the story from his childhood about his grandfather and how that related to what he ended up doing later on in life. I've always been interested in genealogy and this presentation made me wonder even more. I thought it was at it's best when they talked about the stereotypes that he faced growing up and throughout his life.

  3. You did a very good job telling who Henry Louis Gates Jr. was because many people like me probably never head of this person. The background about his was interesting and what helped make him what he is now. The last about him wanted people to know about their past was interesting to find out because as you said he wants people to have this knowledge to show that we all come from the same place.

  4. I really enjoyed hearing the personal stories of Gates. It made him less of a historical figure out of a book that you just read about to someone a bit more personable. I thought everything said helped bring your point together about how he had made it past all of his handicaps meaning that anything was truly possible. He had a very inspiring story that you conveyed very well.

  5. Great job first off I really enjoyed the background you guys told on him I learned a lot. I know who he was but I didn't know that much about him so I defiantly learned something. I really enjoyed the conclusion, the quotes you guys put in their really summed it all up. It really showed what type of person he is, great job.

  6. Before your presentation I had never even heard of Henry Gates Jr., and I feel like a learned a lot of great things about him. He was the first AA to have a novel published, and that was just the start of his many accomplishment against the racist barrier. I also thought it was very interesting how he helped people, and many stars, discover where they came from, which showed that on the inside, many of us are the same. The only thing that I would suggest better for next time is to have fewer words on your power point because it was a little much to see at once. But everything else was good!

  7. From your presentation I learned who Henry Gates Jr. was. I had never even heard of him before and it was especially interesting to learn that has PBS shows to trace people's genealogy. I also like the stories you guys told, it made it seem as if you talked to him personally. I also found it very interesting that he is from Ireland. That is something that I would not expect. One thing I would suggest is not so many words next time. I think sticking to the pictures is best or else people lose the attention.

  9. Your presentation really let me understand who Henry Gates was and what he accomplished during his life. I really enjoyed how you gave background information with the stories that inspired him to accomplish what he did during his life. The improvement that I could see is less words on the slides during the presentation.

  12. I learned who Henry Gates was and why he was an inspirational writer. I learned about his past and why he had a passion for genealogy. I also learned how he wanted to convince people to find out where they are truly from. I think that the presentation was at it's best when they explained how race doesn't determine anything. I enjoyed this presentation, great job!
