exploration in response to 1984

One of my favorite passages is a small one but i thought it really defined Winston as an individual.
"DOWN WITH BIG BROTHER"
"DOWN WITH BIG BROTHER"
"DOWN WITH BIG BROTHER"
"DOWN WITH BIG BROTHER"
"DOWN WITH BIG BROTHER"
I found this passage and the ones around it to be very important because it shows that he's still a person  and not completely under control of the government. Also  i think it kind of shows him breaking the barrier of the brain washing and sets the tone for the remainder of the book.

"In the end the Party would announce that two and two made five, and you would have to believe it. It was inevitable that they should make that claim sooner or later: the logic of their position demanded it. Not merely the validity of experience, but the very existence of external reality was tacitly denied by their philosophy."

Thats another passage i thought to be interesting because what messed up and unbelievable his government really was. the meaning of this passage is to show you that whatever the government says is right has to be right no matter how stupid it is. The government decides whatever they want and your just expected to believe it.

i dont really read the book as to much of a warning because i really dont see us ever turning into something this extreme, but i think this book is an eye opener for use. it makes you stop and think about how bad living under full government control would be. i would never want to live like that.

I think the loss of privacy is the biggest thing our country can relate to this. because over the years the government has started to invade or privacy even more than before. ever since 9/11 privacy has been diminishing. i think they are doing it for good to stop these horrible events but at the same time how much is to much? with them recording our every move its kind of scary that they probably know more about you can you yourself does. and with the new drones that they plan to have all over the place i think thats gonna be taking it way to far. although i have nothing to hide i still think its a huge invasion of our privacy.
