  1. I liked this presentation and I think they did a great job on explaining who Nellie Bly really was. I found it interesting the lengths she took to be a great writer. I also like the comparison to twitter and Breaking News. This showed how journalism has died off. I think that this presentation was done well and I learned a lot.

  2. I agree with Nickie, you did a great job capturing Nellie's character by using the video in the intro and telling some stories that really show her stubborn and witty personality. It is neat that she strived to be different and break gender roles. Good job and great slideshow.

  3. I thought i had heard of the writing about the state of mental hospitals at the time but I had no idea who it was who wrote the article or how they got inside the facility. I also liked the comparison to actual journalism and real reporting and news, people would rather be given useless little bits of info rather than sit down and listen to or read an entire story. The presentation did a good job of showing all of the things that she did and how they have influenced the US and how the media has become what it is now.

  4. I found this presentation very interesting becasue I really did not know who Nellie Bly was. When the group discussed her ten days in the madhouse I found to be the most interesting. That in itself shows a lot about her character and what she was trying to change in our world. I think the group did very well. I do however wish the video was more detailed but I still enjoyed watching it.

  5. I learned a lot about Nellie Bly, i learned what she done through out her life because i never heard of her before. I like how she pretended she was crazy to basically to help people out, i got a kick out of that. I like her determination when she set out to show women that they are strong too especially how she wanted women to be able to fight in the military. I would have liked to know a little more about her childhood for example what gave her the drive to do all of these things. But it was still a excellent presentation great job!

  6. At the beginning of the presentation I wasn't really sure who Nellie Bly was. I didn't really understand who she was until they started talking about things that she had done. I thought the 10 days in the Madhouse was crazy, i had never heard of that before. I also didn't know she was the women who went around the world in 72 days. I liked how you compared the work she did to todays world, it was different.

  7. Using the video at the beginning of your presentation was a neat idea and was good because it was a funny way to talk about her past. I really found it interesting that she wanted to go to an insane asylum just so that she could expose what really goes on it there. Also it was also interesting that she wanted to go around the world in under 80 days and did so by only taking 72 days.

  8. First of all, I loved your presentation. The slides, pictures, and the video were all very well put together. Everything just flowed so good and the slide design fit the presentation so well ! I also loved the stories you both told. I felt like you both knew so much about her to be able to recreate her stories. I also loved how you included the theme of our class with each story like eccentric and dreamer. I also loved the comparison you made because it really helped me to understand what and how Nellie worked. After your presentation it made me want to learn more about Nellie. I honestly cannot say one thing you guys would need to fix.

  9. Before your presentation I had never heard of Nellie Bly. However, I think you both did a wonderful job in presenting her and making it interesting. I think it's amazing how she set out to break the record of going around the world in 80 days, and that she actually did it! My favorite part, though, was that she was able to fake her way into an insane asylum just to write an article about how horrible it was. She sounds like a very crafty woman, and I was very glad to hear about her.

  10. I enjoyed your video about how she became a writer. It made us familiar with who she was as a person. You did a good job on the analysis of her actions and her being an eccentric and dreamer. The speaking was broken down well that made it seem very well prepared.

  11. I loved this presentation. I know that both of you are into writing such of the ones as Nellie Bly. It was great to see your passion towards her. I loved hearing about how she was such an iconic woman of her time and was able to show that women can too do great things. I loved the story about how she traveled around the world in 72 days with such little luggage! We don't need to carry everything we own with us! :) great job ladies! I really like the intro clip as well. It did do a good job of explaining who she was.

  15. I had never heard of Nellie Bly before your presentation. She sounded like a fascinating woman. I agree 100 percent that this type of research and reporting has become a lost art in the news and story world today. That is truly a shame because it is fascinating to hear news based on first hand experience. Great presentation.
