"I'm just an herbist. I studied how the herbs works on the human being, and how they've helped 'em."
Tommie Bass has spent seventy-two years studying different plants and the different ailments they can cure. I've always been interested in the study of herbs and home remedies, my family has always considered me an 'old soul' and I suppose that is true. My great-grandmother always raised us to use the old ways to cure our illnesses before taking pills and I think that modern medicine, although ingenious in its own right should only be a second option, I think that turning to nature should always be a persons first option. If I had the means and didn't need to make money to survive, ideally I would love to follow in Tommie's foot steps and open a small apothecary in downtown and use homeopathic remedies to treat peoples ailments, I think helping people in need just for the sake of helping is the most noble thing any one can do. I think that this profile starts people thinking about whether it is better to return to the 'old ways' or continue to use our modern methods. I personally believe that as we inject, ingest, and pump our bodies full of these medicines we are only weakening our immune system by killing the germs that we do need in order to fight further infection. Sterile is not always better, by killing all germs we are only creating a clean breeding ground for new, stronger germs to procreate and flourish. I don't just my thoughts, but I think that by using the tools we were giving rather than creating new ones we may be better off.
