Homework: Post in comments here to share a meaningful Dream

If there is one central theme in Holding On that speaks to every profile it is the concept of using your creativity and imagination to live more fully in this life.  These are people who have practical dreams and goals, but they also have a vision for a life that is a little beyond the typical and normal.  They have big dreams and they try to live them.

Under this post, let's share one of our dreams for our life that might be unexpected, eccentric or impractical.  I don't care if it's not practical.  I want us to share our dreams.  That is one of the most important lessons of the book.

Be thoughtful.  Be brave.  Surprise somebody, or even yourself!  Dream big.

Here we go.

  1. One of my dreams is to one day own and live in a fully underground neighborhood on a mountain. It would be completely self- sustained with solar powered lights to light the neighborhood houses and solar power lights to grow crops for the people that was living there and food for the animals living there as well. We would have fresh water that we would collect off the mountain top. We would also have fresh meat that we harvested from our animals. The reason why I would want to live in a place like that is because no natural disaster can hurt you there. The reason why I would want to own a place like that is because I can control who goes and who stays just call me the claw.

  2. A dream I'd love to live out would be becoming a zoo keeper. I love animals and they make me happy. Every day would be an adventure, as you can imagine, trying to feed a lion, herding animals into their cages, holding a baby gorilla. I don't know, I'm sure I'd have some stories to tell. Plus, it would be great to help endangered animals such as the two and three toed sloth, and to travel all over the world to view the animals in thier natural habitats. They are all God's creation, each a work of art to be protected, not destroyed.

  3. My dream has been to always go up into space and even the International Space Station. It would be so cool to be weightless for a long period of time and to watch the Earth fly by me at 5 miles per second. I have a few times entered contest to go in to sub-orbital space but I have not won any of my tries. While I keep trying to win a ride into space, I can only dream of what it's like up there.

  4. A dream I've always had is to be a singer. I'd love to learn how to play the guitar, and then write/perform my own songs. I really enjoyed singing in high school, and I sing at my church occasionally. When I sing, I feel that I am free to express myself. I can let out all my emotions, whether they're happy, sad, angry, or upset. It's something I turn to when I need to relax and unwind. Singing is simply a passion that I have, and have always had growing up, and I'd love to be able to pursue it someday.

  5. I have always wanted to play in the NBA even though I know it is far out of reach most likely. I still think in the back of my mind everyday how much i would love waking up and getting to play basketball for a living. It honestly wouldn't even matter how much i got payed, as long as it was a livable salary. Obviously some of the players make millions but i would happily settle for a fraction of that. I just really love the game of basketball, i would also settle for being a NBA coach as well! Honestly just something NBA related would be a dream come true.

  6. My dream, the one I've had forever, is to buy a piece of land in West Virginia and build my dream house. Actually help in building my own house, not to fully depend on hired help. I want all my effort in life to show; that I could over come being a poor kid and become a land and home owner. As to why WV as the location, not a clue. That has just always been the location!

  10. I have always dreamed of living in a big house and never have to deal with work or outside problems again. Its a bit sheltered I know but the idea of living out my life without having to put up with anybody else has been something I have wanted for a long time.

  11. Since I was in 3rd grade I have always wanted to be an Ohio State Cheerleader. This dream is half the reason I transfered from the Univerity of Toledo. My old team would go watch them practice and I just fell in love. Due to the fact that I am older and have had my share of injuries I don't see this happening. However the chance to be on Ohio States all girl competitive team is still up for grabs.

  12. I have honestly never known what I wanted to do with anything in my life. Now in the past couple years all I've found myself wanting to do is live on the coast and play with sea creatures all day. It'd be cool to get paid for that, but I just really want to swim around with fish and octopi and other creatures of the sort. I think that'd be a fun way to live out my life. I certainly wouldn't see it making me unhappy.

  13. When I was little I feel like all I ever did was come up new designs for my bedroom. I think I would rearrange my room once a week, if not more. I have always loved planning out my bedroom and eventually I started dreaming up houses. I would make floor plans allllllllllllllll the time, to houses that would just pop into my mind. So growing up, I wanted to be an architect. But as soon as I realized how much math was really required it kind've shot down my dreams. Although I don't think I'd ever professionally become an architect, I would still love to be able to design my dream house in the future!

  15. My dream for a long time now has been to become a doctor or a surgeon and work in a hospital just long enough for me to earn enough money so that I can open up a bakery in a small downtown and right above the bakery will be a little doctors office where I will see patients and every Saturday I will see people for free just because I want to help them. I have always wanted my own bake shop, but more recently I have realized that I want to be a doctor, so I'd really like to combine the two.

  19. My dream is to move to Nashville and become a famous music critic or agent of a new star. Anything along those lines really. Just as long as I made it big in the music industry. I know I can't sing, but I know when I hear a good voice.
