The overall theme of the movie Fresh is that the current industrialized farming economy is broken and will eventually lead to even more problems than it already has. The idea that large amounts of cheap food is a good long term plan is a myth, you get what you pay for and the food is of such a low quality that it is lacking in nutritional value and it makes you sick. The pig farmer Russ gave his personal account of how industrialized pig farming is greatly flawed and leads to tainted meat and other problems. The animals in such facilities are constantly injected to ward off disease and this in turn creates strains of the disease that are resistant to the antibiotics so more are injected to try and fix it.
The strongest argument came from Joe Stalatin, he managed to raise a farm of animals and makes more money than industrial farms due to the fact that his expenses are far lower, refuting the idea that one cannot make money with a farm of a smaller size. The demand for organic food is there but the supply is not, farms that actually do raise crops like this are dwindling due to larger farms beating them with how cheap their goods are. I personally would like it a great deal if we had more choice when it came to food, I have no idea if there are any organic food places around here or where the food comes from, every farm around here only grows corn and soybeans just like all the others. I have never been a fan of the idea that we should sacrifice quality for convenience and food is just another of the things being sacrificed to that belief.
