"Americans fear only one thing, inconvenience" to me this quote stood out because it is true. In the film Fresh these everyday farmers showed us what farming really is and how it has been changed over generations. One of the themes that stood out to me was respect for the land and the animals. People in today's society have no respect for anything, especially nature! These farmers that are trying to make the world a better place have the respect that everyone needs.
The evidence is most convincing to me when Will Alan shows how he is recreating natures process in Growing Power. He says "we want this food but don't think about who makes it and if the farmers are bein paid" I personally see this disrespect all the time. People just expect the food to be handed to them but do not actually realize what these farmers go through everyday to make sure they have done enough work to have some income. Seeing Will Alan's project really showed me that America has become lazy.
I do not really have doubts about these farmers views, if anything I agree and support what they are doing. I wish more people would be like those men and women. We can apply these ideas to our culture by making people aware of what happens when we feed dead cows to cows and help them understand that they were naturally born to eat grass. If people become aware of such things maybe our society wouldn't be in as much trouble as we are.
I completely agree with your comment about Americans and inconvenience. That is one thing that we fear the most. When we want something we want it now, and we think that if we can't have it now then it's the end of the world. It's an awful thing to say, but it's the truth; Americans are lazy.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I felt so bad for the animals and their treatment in these industries, they are tossed about, shoved in small spaces together, fed food that isn't their natural feed, and don't get regular exercise.It is as though they aren't animals but property. I'm sure the people running these industries wouldn't like being in this environment. It's so horrible that they can't even get people to work these factories, so they make prison workers do the dirty work.
ReplyDeleteI agree Americans care about convenience that's it. If it were easy to eat healthy everyone would do it i believe. I think its important to continue to make movies like Fresh in order to steer people away from eating bad food.
ReplyDeleteI really like how all the farmers in the movie had so much respect for the animals. Its great to see people who really care. Also America has become really lazy. Just by taking the easy way out is leading to animals getting hurt and bacteria growing in the foods we eat.

ReplyDeleteI agree that Americans as a whole have become about as lazy as humanly possible and get away with it. Not wanting to be inconvenienced has now for the past few decades started to affect almost every corporation in the U.S. We cannot let this keep happeniong, especially when it comes to the food that we are consuming.
